What a phenomenal performance yesterday by Australian Jason Day.  A new record is in the books with a score of 20 under par in a Major championship.  Incredible for someone so young and he realized what an unbelievable achievement it was when he broke down after making the final putt at 18.  It is going to be a long time, I suspect, before that record is seriously threatened!

There is a new generation of golfers on the international stage now – from Americans Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth to Europeans Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose and now Australian Jason Day.  If you can’t enjoy golf while watching these players make their incredible shots, saves, and putts, well you just can’t enjoy golf period.

Golf has long been known as a “gentlemen’s game” and while that often invokes the image of an older, more mature player, these young bucks are true gentlemen nonetheless.  They all exhibit the wonderful personal characteristics and traits that you want to find in winners – great sportsmanship, respect for the game and for the players they compete against, and obvious enjoyment and pride at achieving success.

Congratulations to Jason and to all the golfers who competed this past week at the PGA Championship.  It was great golf.
