OnCore Ambassador: Giavanna “Gia” Bolognese
Giavanna “Gia” Bolognese started playing golf at the age of seven. As she progressed in the sport, she observed a noticeable lack of female participation overall and specifically in her First Tee classes. Rather than overlook this issue, she resolved at just eleven years old to make a difference by ensuring that women and young girls feel comfortable and welcomed in golfing environments. Through First Tee, she attended several leadership academies, and became a Level 3 coach, Junior Coach Coordinator, ACE Level Coordinator, and most recently, Girls Golf Site Director.
Gia’s commitment to making a positive impact in my community inspired her to give back through organizations such as First Tee, Kids Escaping Drugs, the Ralph Wilson Foundation, and the local Police Athletic League. Recently, she embraced a new role at Orchard Park Country Club as the first female Assistant Pro. In this new capacity, she helps run the junior program, assisting golfers improve their games, and advocated for an increased female presence, in what has historically been a male-dominate sport.
Her aspiration is for every woman and child to connect with golf in a meaningful way, while incorporating empowering habits and igniting self-confidence. The “Greatness is Achievable” (G.I.A.) initiative, is focused on giving back to the community, as others have done, by empowering youth and creating a lasting impact in the female and youth golf community.
