Scottsdale Arizona is often regarded as one of the most sought-after golfing destinations in the United States. Why? You may ask. Well, the answer is much more straightforward than one might think. Scottsdale is a hub for business both domestic and international. It also has phenomenal golfing weather during the Springtime with an average temperature of 79.75 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 54.7 degrees during the night. With a population of 239,283 Scottsdale isn’t a huge city but with that being said it isn’t a small one either. At a mere 11.4 miles away, It is in very close proximity to Phoenix Arizona; which has a population of 1.626 million (as of 2017).
Just a few minutes north of Scottsdale you can find one of the most famous courses in recent times, TPC Scottsdale. This is home to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. This course is also the one where Gary Woodland had that all so famous interaction with Amy Bockerstette. Amy is a special Olympian and now one of Gary Woodland’s new found best friends. Overall Scottsdale definitely deserves to be a top golfing destination just out of the sheer location, climate, and environment that the players there provide it.
So what is so great about TPC Scottsdale? To start, it is home to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The Phoenix Open is a yearly event that has been coined “the greatest show on grass”. The reason behind this nickname is because of the famous 16th hole Par 3. On this hole during the tournament, there are stands lining either side and the back of the hole which provides golfers with the supposedly loudest roar in golf. This roar was very apparent when Amy and Gary took to the course this past spring. At 7,261 yards and a Par 71, this is a far from an easy course.
Between the astounding roars on the 16 to the seemingly driveable par 4’s there is a lot of pressure that comes with this course. Pressure there may be but good pressure it is. It keeps the players on their game and allows them to be able to perform at peak levels of output. We highly recommend this course not only for the course itself but also for the things around the course which we will break down below.
